Born and raised in Tampa, Rodger attended college at Florida State University graduating with a business degree in 1980. Returning to Tampa, he initially worked in the corporate headquarters for Shriner’s Hospitals for Children as an asset coordinator facilitating the management and disposal of real estate and other tangible property bequeathed to the charitable organization. The job presented many interesting challenges, however, the corporate setting stifled Rodger’s career ambitions and a desire for more autonomy pulled him in a different direction. In 1986, he took a job as mortgage broker with NCNB Mortgage where he worked for two years before deciding to shift to a career in the insurance field. In 1988, he became an agent with Prudential and quickly built a large clientele by providing essential products to meet their insurance needs. Year after year, his sales volume consistently ranked him in the upper echelon of all Prudential agents nationwide. In 1994, Rodger joined with another top performing Prudential agent (Louis Tilchin) to form an independent insurance agency, Tilchin Financial. This provided him with the opportunity to offer his clients a multitude of products with many different insurance companies. Tilchin Financial later merged with another investment partner to become the large agency that is today, Jaffe Tilchin Wealth Management. Rodger specializes primarily in personal insurance needs (auto, home, life), but through his Jaffe team members also assists his many clients with other needs in areas such as commercial insurance, financial planning and investment management.
